1. Who we are

Clario (“Clario”, “we”, “us”) operates an escrow payment platform that lets buyers and sellers in Nigeria complete transactions safely. Payments are protected, through our licensed payment partner, until both sides confirm a deal is complete. This policy explains what personal data we collect, why, and how we handle it under the Nigeria Data Protection Regulation (NDPR) and applicable law.

2. Information we collect

To create an account and process deals, we collect:

  • Identity details: full name, date of birth, phone number, email, address.
  • Payment and payout information: bank account number and bank name for receiving payouts, and transaction records for deals you create or take part in.
  • Security data: a hashed transaction PIN (we never store or have access to your PIN in plain text) and device identifiers used for push notifications.
  • Usage data: activity logs (IP address, device/browser information, timestamps) for actions like login, deal creation, and delivery confirmation, kept for security and fraud-prevention purposes.

3. How we use your information

  • To create and manage your account, and verify your identity.
  • To process and release payments between buyers and sellers.
  • To verify bank account details before enabling payouts.
  • To investigate and resolve disputes raised on a deal.
  • To detect and prevent fraud, abuse, and unauthorized access.
  • To send transactional notifications (email and push) about your deals.
  • To comply with legal and regulatory obligations.

4. Who we share information with

We share the minimum necessary data with:

  • Licensed payment gateway providers, to process payments, verify bank accounts, and send payouts.
  • The other party to a deal: for example, a seller sees the buyer’s name and phone number needed to fulfil an order, and vice versa.
  • Regulators or law enforcement, where required by law.

We do not sell your personal data to third parties.

5. Data retention

We retain account and transaction data for as long as your account is active, and afterwards for as long as needed to meet legal, tax, and regulatory record-keeping obligations, or to resolve disputes.

6. Your rights

Subject to applicable law, you may request access to, correction of, or deletion of your personal data, and may object to certain processing. Contact us using the details below to exercise these rights.

7. Security

We use industry-standard safeguards to protect your data, including encryption of sensitive fields at rest, hashed credentials, and access controls. No system is perfectly secure, and we encourage you to keep your password and PIN confidential and never share them with anyone, including anyone claiming to be from Clario.

8. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. Material changes will be communicated before they take effect.
